NEWS January 2011 : Gorbals Christian Centre traditionally held a link with the Gambia church of God in West Africa. This is because the church was originally established by Rev. Michael Ogwuche who is now back in Scotland and is pioneering a new Church of God work in Hamilton. The link with the Gambia Church of God www.gambiachurchofgod.org has transferred to Rutherglen Pentecostal Church of God lightandtruth.org.uk which is being pioneered by Church of God members who originated from the Gorbals church but are now involved in this new church plant. These members formerly supported the work in the Gambia from the Gorbals.
NEWS June 2010: REMI- CHURCH OF GOD IS NOW LOCATED FULLY IN THE PREMISES IN SOUTH PORTLAND STREET WITH LOTS OF ACTIVE SERVICES.
NEWS 10th March 2010: Destiny Church is allowing the Gorbals Church of God to restart afresh in these premises . A new pastor is moving to Glasgow to work here and Pastor Bam will be assisting him.
NEWS January 2010 : GMMS who own the Gorbals Christian Centre have leased their buiding to Destiny Church and served the Church of God with a 30 day notice to vacate their premises by the end of January 2010. The Church of God is no longer allowed to hold services at 37 South Portland Street. Please contact Pastor Bam for an update on the situation
STOP PRESS APRIL 2014: : -Senior Pastor Ambakisye Mwafula has announced the new location for the Sunday services of REMI Church of God. The congregation will be meeting at: The Sighthill Community Centre, 1 Fountainwell Square, Sighthill G21 1RB. The office will be located at the Wellpark Enterprise Centre, 120 Sydney St., Glasgow, G31 1JF. Service times are 11 am -1:30 pm each Sunday. First meeting will be on Sunday, 27th April at 11 am.
WHY HAS THE FELLOSHIP MOVED OUT OF GORBALS ?:
Although the church has had a long association with the Gorbals Medical Missionary society which became the GMMS. (The Church was in actual fact invited by the ongoing Medical Mission fellowship to form the existing fellowship into a church), the men who were the directors of the organisation, suprisingly, required the fellowship to leave the buiding because they wanted Destiny to use the buiding instead. Destiny continued to allow the Fellowship to remain and pay them rent but they have now asked the Fellowship to leave their building. The reaon it is now their building is because the new directors who were given directorships by the in house GMMS directors decided to dissolve the GMMS and give away its assets to who they wanted to give them. The onging Medical Mission Fellowship ie the Church and the people who contributed to the buiding up of the Medical Mission both financially and physically over many, many years were not consulted nor given any consideration. Recent discussion with Destiny indicated a simple response of "its our building". No response was forthcoming from the ex GMMS directors regarding unresolved obligations including financial and moral obligations to leaders, donaters and members of the Medical Mission fellowship. Communications with them have not been answered. This said we are pleased that the buiding continues as a Christian Oureach and hopefully a new evanglical fellowship may begin within its walls soon
